The Insta HMS single screen philosophy – A core principle that has fuelled wide-spread EMR adoption.

Insta HMS is now being used by over 350 healthcare providers in over 10 countries across segments such as clinic, home-care givers, labs, pharmacies and tertiary care hospitals. The Single Screen Philosophy-

1. Improves speed and efficiency

Having understood early on in the game of EMR adoption, Insta realized that all the end users be it a front desk users, nurses, lab technicians, doctors, care-givers or even pharmacists are all pushed for time. Their core work doesn’t necessarily revolve around all the data they need to enter, multiple clicks, windows and tabs they need to navigate to fetch useful information

2. The Usability Experience

Insta designed screens understanding that the usability of each screen revolves around functionally enabling the user to capture as much requisite data and completing actions such as printing, generating a receipt or navigating to related screens within a maximum of a click or two.

3. Attrition of Staff:

Considering especially that the healthcare providers experience high levels of attrition especially amongst administrational staff, it is of paramount importance that the screens be self explanatory and easy to use allowing for newly recruited staff to quickly get acquainted with the use of the HMS.

4. Lack of IT Knowledge:

Most Hospital Staff are resistant to change and have low adoption rates to the use of new technology.

5. Quick Action Keys:

The screens are equipped to enable the user to enter a quick shortcut key to complete an action on a screen such as Saving the Page. This allows the user who typically spends most of his work-time revolving around the use of 1-2 screens to quickly get acquainted to complete commonly used actions on a screen such as Collecting a Payment and Generating a Print Receipt.

6. Alert fatigue:

The Traditional EMR has so many controls built in to each action that the user can often be bombarded with several pop-up alerts resulting in the user selecting to skip each alert. Each screen has been built in with this understanding of having to reduce unnecessary alerts.
